If the past few years have been all about revenge travel — with everyone trying to do and see everything — then 2025 is all about intentional travel. According to Priceline’s first-ever trend report, in 2025 travelers will be looking for real connections and trying to pursue their passions while working to stretch their travel dollars.
Travel will still be a top priority (in fact, 27 percent of people surveyed would rather give up coffee for life than give up traveling), but it will be done in a more calculated, mindful way. The prediction is backed up by Priceline’s trending destinations, a list that’s void of travel-worn destinations like Tulum and Barcelona. In fact, for most travelers, many of the destinations will be completely unknown.
At the top of the list is Vanves, France, a southwestern suburb of Paris. The little community saw a 407 percent increase in hotel searches on Priceline between July 2023 and June 2024, compared to the same period the year prior.
But why Vanves and not Paris? Well, for starters, a four-star tourist hotel in Vanves might cost you between $100 and $150 a night, while a similar quality hotel in Paris hovers around $300 a night. Lower hotel prices come with lower food costs, meaning you can eat and do more without going over your budget.
Regarding location, Vanves sits just outside the Paris “Périphérique,” a ring road surrounding Paris proper. It is less than 30 minutes from central Paris by train.

In addition to being more cost-effective concerning lodging and food, Vanves is home to one of the area’s lesser-known flea markets. Les Puces de Vanves (Vanves Flea Market) is a far cry from the overblown, overtouristed Les Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen north of Paris. Like the larger market to the north, the flea market at Vanves is home to vintage rugs and clothes, vinyl records, antique jewelry, and other retro bric-a-brac. But unlike the market in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, you’ll find warm vendors and good bargains.
The stalls at the Vanves Flea Market are open air and the shopping starts early. The market is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
