Two Park Rapids businesses receive energy grants

U.S. Senators Tina Smith (D-MN) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), members of the Senate Agriculture Committee, recently announced funding awards for 76 farms and small businesses across rural and Greater Minnesota to install clean energy technology.

According to the news release, two awards were given to businesses near Park Rapids. One is for $74,205 to purchase and install a solar array for a renewable energy production facility, and the other is for $36,763 to purchase and install an energy-efficient boiler with baseboard heating and a water heater.

This round of funding for Minnesota totals $7,891,608. This year alone, Minnesota has seen over 250 clean energy projects in small towns and rural communities, the release states. The funding is specifically set aside for agricultural producers and rural small businesses to install renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements.

The projects are funded through the Renewable Energy for America program.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
