Cypriot representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Maria Pissarides, has launched a dance challenge.
Maria Pissarides, who will represent Cyprus in Junior Eurovision 2024 in Madrid, has launched a dance challenge for her song “Crystal Waters”. On Instagram, the singer asks people to share videos of themselves dancing to her song. People can then tag her and she will reshare her favourites.
Maria Pissarides will represent Cyprus at Junior Eurovision 2024. Maria is 11 years old and comes from Nicosia. She currently studies at a performing arts school in the United Kingdom. She was selected to represent Cyprus at Junior Eurovision 2024 after an evaluation of a proposal by the production company Chandal Entertainment Ltd to CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster.
“Crystal Waters” was composed by Sophia Patsalidou and Armin Gilani. Sophia represented Cyprus in Junior Eurovision 2014 with “I pio omorfi mera”. Armin is a Swedish producer and composer.
Junior Eurovision 2024
The 2024 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Madrid, following their second-place finish at the 2023 contest. The final will take place at the Caja Mágica on November 16, bringing the contest back to a Saturday for the first time since 2015. The winner, France, declined the hosting responsibility after hosting the 2023 edition in Nice.

Cyprus participated in the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 where they were represented by Theodora Rafti. She finished 14 with just 16 points. The country’s best result came in 2004 when Marios Tofi finished 8th with the song “Oniera” scoring a total of 61 points. In 2008, Cyprus hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. On home soil they were represented by Elena Mannouri & Charis Saava they finished 10th with 46 points. Cyprus will return to Junior Eurovision in 2024.
