Is this the new nasty party? MP suspended for assaulting a constituent in the street, renewed austerity, slum landlord MPs…
I’m not sure you can blame the landlord for the running of the children’s home. However the second paragraph starts the really interesting story.
>(Athwal)…is friends with the home’s owner…(Daljit Johal)… whose company was paid millions of pounds by Redbridge Council during the period Athwal was council leader.
Also funding from Redbridge Council to his mate Johal rose more than sixfold after Athwal became leader.
Oh and it appears he didn’t declare this relationship once in the 10 years he was in charge of the council.
Sure this guy’s been “exposed” before but can’t remember why. I think he owns a shed load of properties and has no management company and just uses other relatives to maintain & repair
EDIT he was charged with sexual assault but somehow got off and got a slap on the wrist for the disgusting state of his properties by the party

Words cannot express the deep disdain I feel toward wealthy investors who profit immensely from the lives of disadvantaged and orphaned children. I cannot understand why this sector is structured for profit, outsourced to private landlords and companies whose primary focus is annual returns rather than the well-being of the most vulnerable members of society.
Wait, I thought only Tories were corrupt greedy landlords
What the hell is it with London councillors. The level of corruption and nepotism is astounding in its blatancy. Athwal clearly played his local labour party connections to get selected as an MP – because any basic background check should have flagged up this issue.
