Why don’t you just get up later and leave the clock alone?
Just keep all year in summer schedule. Trust me, you’ll forget this clock changing twice every year routine as a nightmare
Even with the data, it’s still a load of bollocks.
This makes it so much harder for children to sleep.
Daylight savings time is trash fight me
Ok so then why do we change our clocks back?
this image is so ugly. and incredibly confusing
There is an old wives’ tale about a native man who said something like “Only a white man would cut the top off a blanket, sew it on the bottom, and claim to have a longer blanket.”
Sun sets early in winter. Let’s fuck it up even more and make the sun set even earlier. More darkness for all!
I don’t need it to be daylight at 9pm. There’s 18 hours of daylight where I am. What do I care that some it is at 3.42am? I am quite content sleeping through several hours of it.
Because we dont need light at 3:45am…
Honestly, emd standard time. I want my winter afternoon light. I couldnt give a shit about light in the morning when it isnt useful.
Tell me you’re not a morning person without telling me you’re not a morning person.
“No need of early daylight.”
The only valid answer is: because there are idiots.
You can just not do the stupid clock change and just start your 9 to 5 as 8 to 4 half of the year.
But no, some idiot thought that would be too much for the people to handle.
I don’t care which one. Just pick one and be done with it.
Presenting this as an obvious fact (that we should turn our clocks an hour ahead in the summer) is disingenuous. If it were so simple, it wouldn’t be the source of such debate by policymakers, scientists, and citizens.
First of all, time changes themselves (in any direction, for any reason) are intrinsically disruptive. They increase rates of accidents and medical emergencies. They are especially tough on kids who can’t understand the reason and whose bodies need routine. “Spring forward” is worst, since everyone loses an hour of sleep.
Second of all, it is not automatically obvious whether it is better to shift daylight toward the morning hours or evening hours. More daylight in the morning is better for schoolchildren, farmers, and anyone else who has to get up early. More daylight in the evening is better for office workers, retailers, and anyone else who wants to be outdoors after business hours. In any case, the energy and economic benefits are quite minor.
Rather that in winter we steal sunlight from our leisure time in the afternoon to give it to our boss so he can save some money on lightning the work area in the morning.
At least in my area sunlight hours in winter match the usual 8AM – 4PM work hours perfectly. You commute both ways in the dark and see the sunlight only through the window if you’re lucky to have one at work.
Arizona here. You change your clocks? Like.. to the wrong time? On purpose?
Hear me out – add two hours each to Saturday and Sunday – eliminate Monday morning. Show up at work Monday at 8 a.m. and BOOM, it’s lunchtime.
This chart changes on your location, it might be more usable in the northern attitude
>Why are our clocks changed?
Because during World War 1, lamp oil was a serious consideration. By adjusting our waking hours by 1, we were able to reduce the amount of lamp oil needed during a normal day by a good solid percentage.
That’s it. That’s the reason for it. It’s because of supply rationing during the first world war which was over a century ago. And we’re still doing it now because… I don’t even know. Maybe we enjoy the increased suicide rate the week after a time change? Because that’s a thing.
It is BEYOND time for us to stop giving the entire country jet lag twice a year.
I’d argue it’s backwards. No need of later daylight during DST, it’s needed more over winter.
Noon should be noon. Or rather since there are time zones, the sun should reach the highest point in the sky between 11:30 and 12:30, depending on which side of your local time zone you are on. Adjust everything else accordingly.
This is propaganda from Big Time Change to keep the switch happening. We must rise up and stick with either standard time or daylight time year round.
Explains why we switch to daylight savings time but not why we switch back, which is the more annoying part in my opinion.
Feels like we need that extra hour in the evening more in the winter, in the summer its light until around 9pm while in the winter it gets dark at 4pm.
So I’m driving to work in the early spring, enjoying the the fact that it’s no longer as dark as Satan’s soul on my journey to another day of involuntary servitude and BOOM, SPRING AHEAD. And it’s pitch black again, , , these montherfuckers. 0_o
Oh good now it’s light at 8am when I’m working and dark 4pm in the winter when I could do something in the afternoon.
Im my country we ditched DST and we are happy without it.
Most of the commute is done by bus, the average travel time is 2hs, and busses start going out at 4AM, if we borrow an hour of daylight, early commute would most in the dark, we need more daylight in the morning, not in the evening

In the US, [the debate continues endlessly](https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/03/18/daylight-saving-time-history-debate/) about whether we should keep the twice-yearly change, or [stay on Standard time year-round](https://digitalcommons.law.uw.edu/faculty-articles/134/), or [stay on Daylight time year-round](https://digitalcommons.law.uw.edu/faculty-articles/134/). Because there is no obvious winner, the debate drags on.
