Another day, another article about the collapse of the Russian economy.
Wake me up when it finally affects anything.
Cool but Russia is getting gold and uranium and possibly more from Africa. Russia is scrambling and scraping to get more money but so far it is serving.
We are always going on about how the Economy of Russia is down the drain, but it keeps not happening.
I think it IS already down the drain, but certain people know that if they admit it, they themselves are in big trouble financially because of all the money they have invested in Russia.
Many countries have suffered from financial collapse, but they don’t admit it. None of them were as powerful as Russia.
Really interesting read. Well written.
The situation is not good, but It will take more to collapse it. For example, a significant decrease of oil exports or revenues could do the trick.
The article doesn’t say that there’s an imminent collapse, but gives a pretty solid view on an economy under serious stress. A solid article imo, I enjoyed it. I hope that they are forced to end the war in 2025, hopefully this will be a contributing factor.
>*Russian economy: Let the soldiers buy their own gear. Don’t pay their salary when dead. Saves on pension funds too. Tickle some outrage. Use that to get new soldiers. Repeat until…Military expenses will make up 40 percent of Russia’s public spending in 2025, for an eye-popping $142 billion. (National security and “classified” expenses will absorb another 30 percent of Russia’s federal budget.)*
So 70%…?
Russian economy: Let the soldiers buy their own gear. Don’t pay their salary when dead. Saves on pension funds too. Tickle some outrage. Use that to get new soldiers. Repeat until…
…normal people expect this to be unsustainable. The fact that we care about this and they absolutely don’t is probably the significant difference. And the reason why they need to be stopped.
This article ignores Russia pushing more into the vast pool of unearthed resources currently defrosting in the north. I don’t think it’s a coincidence Russia feels they can get through this economically. Now that they have access to previously inaccessible or costly to reach mineral reserves.
Minerals China and other countries will gladly buy up.
In this regard climate change could be a boon for Russia.
God damn they couldn’t find buyers for $6b in debt? That’s brutal.

I remeber when the special military operation began it was being reported the russian military couldonly feed their Army for ten days….
Russia only needs to spend like this until Comrade Trump gets elected and shuts down all US aid.
Think how fast they would deplete if Ukraine was allowed to strike targets inside Russia. I say let Kyiv unleash the long range missiles on Russian infrastructure.
