North Korea Gaining Modern Combat Experience Fighting Ukraine Is A Big Problem. If thousands of North Korean troops fight Ukraine, the Hermit Kingdom will gain the extremely valuable modern combat experience it badly lacks.

Not so sure about that.
How are they going to be learning anything by being slaughted?
Perhaps if their higher generals work closely with the Russians and see the result of their strategies, maybe. But a lot of “lessons” are not going to make it back to NK i would assume.
To be fair, the article does point out the obvious. These troops might not actually learn much. They may not get any real training and get sent off to die in a meat wave attack. It’s hard to say that a big fraction of them will return to north korea as hardened and trained fighting machines..
Indoctrinated foot soldiers is NK’s main export. They have an oversupply of undernourished people.
The 1% that survive, yes
Some of them might surrender and learn that they’ve been lied to their entire lives.
It’s hard to see Russia using North Korean troops for anything other than massed attacks. I can’t see them learning anything valuable about integrated warfare other than how quickly it can kill you.
Along with these highly trained soldiers that survive, they’re going to take over the world with their 35 MIG 29s.
I can only see them being good for labor. The language barrier has to be massive, not to mention how easily the Russian command can get frustrated with disorganization. I also can’t imagine NK troops morally would do well under intense accurate fire.
They are a commodity that brings the north something in return. These boys are not expected to come back.
There ain’t going to be many North Korean survivors to gain any relevant “combat” experience, it’s all a red herring to try to drum up more assistance or to get someone else involved on Ukrainian side, those 10k North Korean troops will be used in meat waves instead of Russians, and will last about a 1-2 weeks at most. It’s more bodies for the front line for the Russian side, that is all.
The North Koreans who survive will definitely learn how not to conduct a war.
South Korea is totally different military force to Ukraine. How much “lessons” are actually applicable?
That’s assuming they get to go home with that experience. 10k troops is like what. Almost 2 weeks for Ukraine at this point? They wont last till Dec.
The thing is ….. this isnt modern warfare that they will be fighting with SK
You think cannon folders gonna learnt thing?
I wouldn’t worry about that. They lack the economy to sustain any meaningful attack.
Even if they did, then they surely realize that an attack would mean the end of the regime. North Korea needs two things: propaganda internally and threats externality.
Lol, do you think the hermit king is going to allow any of these soldiers back into North Korea? These guys have seen past the veil. There is absolutely no way he letting thousands of these troops back in and risk them telling everyone what they have seen on the outside. These men were as good as dead as soon as they left.
Huge gains to be had in the knowledge of getting hit by HIMARS and drones while getting raped in the ass with a broomhandle by a Russian.
I really don’t think they will serve to be much more than meat wave cannon fodder. So let’s see what experience each will gain:
Killed NK meatwave assaulters: Nothing
Wounded NK meatwave assaulters: War sucks. I miss my legs.
Surviving meatwave assaulters: I want to go home. I don’t like war.
Are there NK NCO? If there are, I doubt that they will be more than translators for corrupt and incompetent Russian officers. Will they learn anything?
Higher level NK officers? They lack the language, culture, or military experience to lead any operations in Russia. And they are totally disconnected from the logistics chain, so nothing to learn there. So their experience will be to learn how to send men to their deaths.
I really don’t think we will see any “Lessons Learned” type of reflection, with ensuing gains in skills and tactics.
Now Russia has learned some things, as they have definitely adapted. But I am curious where exactly those adaptations came from. Is there some actual ability at the headquarters? I don’t think it is on the line, and not so sure about the rear echelon either.
Hahaha. They will die, and if they don’t, they don’t know what the fuck is going on. They are doomed slaves.
Advance…
die
Retreat…
Also die
At a death rate of 1,500 a day, if they’re all sent to the front line then there’s not much you can learn in 8 days.
I beg to differ. Dead men dont tell tales
Where is the military gain for an army, if all the soldier make these experiences and then die on the battlefield?
Isn’t that the biggest gripe of the Russian military right now? The ground forces are being killed so quickly in droves none of them has time to gain experience.
If north Korea learn how to mass assemble drones with parts bought from China we might have a problem.
You dont acquire magically hundreds of years of martial culture in one conflict with 10k troops. But they sure will acquire some valuable experience there.
That’s why Kim has sold 30,000 bodies/month to Putin, pocketing 60 million much needed hard currency for himself. The NK soldiers are expected to die, because no one allowed outside the Hermit Kingdom can ever be permitted to return.
But that doesn’t matter. The few trusted Generals and several hundred (well-fed) officers will be doing the actual battlefield learning to bring back to North Korea – the impoverished and parasite-ridden soldiers are merely meat.
