In a somber meeting in New York, the United Nations Security Council discussed the devastating war in Sudan, which has now lasted for 18 months. While the council members reached consensus on a handful of limited measures and strategies to address the country’s spiraling crisis, the meeting also exposed the UN’s powerlessness and reluctance to take more decisive action.
It’s crazy how the I/P conflict has taken so much of the focus away from conflicts where international aid and involvement may have a much greater impact. Not to say the aid going to Gaza isn’t important, but people are actually starving to death en masse some of the other conflicts.
A shame that no one cares about this legitimate humanitarian crisis.
