  1. how does this compare to other causes of death? It seems a ridiculously high number, also can we get a breakdown per country? iv never heard of this in NL

il admit in my student days, i had a gas powered cooking area, and the filters for the exaust were not changed as often as they should have been. most renovated/new built places use electric stove tops.

in my first year as a student in NL we had an asbestos plate between our couch and gas room heater, so maybe i shouldnt be as surprised. we paid next to nothing for that place and now im figuring out why

how does this compare country to country globally and who really needs a safety update? Asbestos is now illegal in NL, tho the farmers love dumping piles of it onto the highways when raging about climate change not being their problem and keep subsidising an industry thats 70% export…

  2. The American study that showed huge amounts of voc’s that seems to get cited a great deal, used a great deal of tape and plastic sheet to isolate the cooktops and used no exhaust fan, even though in USA the fan is a requirement. Their baseline for gas stoves was badly skewed and is heavily cited by induction range interests.

Gas ranges have some capacity to cause damage with fumes. It’s more than electric. Telling me often and repeatedly making inaccurate arguments while up selling me on a new stove the next sentence does not build trust.

I sort of don’t even care if this derivative opinion piece has cited accurate science. It starts with an argument and stuffs semi-related studies into the citation slots.

It just makes me wonder how the funding is routed.

  3. Just use your range hood like you’re supposed to.

Now I’m going to type more words to meet the minimum required length to be considered a “top level comment.

    Gordon Ramsay would be ashamed.
