The comments under this article in over at r/worldnews were so disheartening to see to be honest.. As humans so little compassion. They afterwards have the guts to call themselves morally superior. It’s sad to see that they behave like this and truly believe that they are right… Refusing to even acknowledge or think.. Maybe maybe they are wrong
I’ve never understood this argument by the UN.
It is literally no one’s business if any country decides not to trade with any other. The US, as such, maintains that no US company or citizen can trade or do business with Cuba.
So what?
The EU is Cuba’s largest trading partner as a result, and the US doesn’t care what they trade, unless it’s a US subsidiary trading with Cuba.
The US doesn’t have warships blockading Cuba’s ports, either (not since the Cuban Missile Crisis, at least), so it’s not like others can’t ship things into and out of Cuba. Likewise, the US has apparently communicated requirements for lifting the blockade (remuneration for their stolen crap, mostly, among some other typical first world preening).
As far as I can tell, it’s every sovereign country’s choice who to trade with and how much, and no one else should give a shit. Can someone explain why the rest of the world should care that the US is pouting in the corner, because Cuba stole its shit in the 60’s, hasn’t given it back yet, and they decided to stop playing with Cuba altogether?
So the UN condemns the embargo for a 32nd time. Surely, if they have the time to do that, they should also have the time to condemn its crackdowns on human rights? If the embargo is evil, isn’t Cuba’s government also evil?
Cuba really be playing the wierdest geopolitical game of all time. Spurn your hyper-rich and powerful next-door neighbour at every turn while fraternizing with their enemies who are 10,000 miles away. Is the country run by morons?
