France has joined the US, Israel and Spain, all of whom have backed Morocco’s claim in recent years. Economic reasons may have motivated France’s decision. Among the deals signed during Macron’s trip to Rabat include one that will give French mining firms access to Western Sahara’s gigantic phosphate reserves.
Macron’s move angered Morocco’s neighbor Algeria, which has supported the Polisario Front for decades. It described France’s decision as the ‘result of a dubious political calculation.’
Algeria must know the only way forward is abandoning the Polisario Front and getting back into friendly terms with Morocco. They are sinking their country diplomatically
This is extra satisfying considering a few Factors.
1 france played as big a role as spain in creating and maintaining this conflict.
2 in 2013 France and the US were about to sell us out at the UN (in exchange for Algeria giving access to Mali) and it only failed with s Russian veto
3 in 2014 they sent police to the residence of the Moroccan ambassador to Paris, trying to arrest our intelligence chief. (Pkus the pagasus chapter later)
Its been a long road but we are here, just hope Algeria does the rational thing and make a deal to end this.
