After Brazil’s BRICS block, Venezuela escalates diplomatic crisis

  1. Since its attempt to join BRICS was vetoed by Brazil at the latest summit of the trading bloc in Kazan, Russia last week, Venezuela’s government has launched a series of provocations against its South American neighbor, including calling back its ambassador in Brasília on Wednesday.

So far, however, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro – who attended the summit last week – has not spoken out directly against his Brazilian counterpart, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – who was unable to attend because of a recent injury, and sent his Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira instead.

  2. Hmm well considering Venezuela now totally owns what is it? 2/3rds of Guyana? I think Brazil should look out for 2/3rds of their territory being annexed soon!

  3. Further antagonising the one administration in South America who’s actually somewhat cordial towards you is certainly a strategy

  4. Venezuela doesn’t seem to understand that Brazil will not give unconditional support to them just to support “the fight against US imperialism “

  5. As far as I’m aware, Brazil hasn’t given any justification on why they vetoed Venezuela’s entry to BRICS. This doesn’t make any sense. A 3rd world Global south nation wanting to join an economic block should be a non issue
