About fucking time and not enough…..sanction the whole nation with trade sanctions on India for using the companies for the violations and reaping profits!!!!!!
I doubt this will deter India in any way from working with Russia. From their perspective, the west is asking them to put morality ahead of their own economic and strategic interests when western countries have never really done so themselves.
The US should have tried to entice India into reducing their ties with Russia by offering them something tangible in return. Such as cutting military aid to Pakistan, boosting arms exports to them etc.
Instead they tried to lecture India into doing what they want and resorted to sanctions when the lectures (predictably) failed.
Lets see if Modi throws a tantrum like he does with Canada on this one.

As an Indian good. Put companies that trade with them on the hook. The folks on the west have a real problem separating people from companies and individuals that profit from people on the ground who just want to go on with their lives
India’s interest is being harmed here. This will push the current govt. more towards being nom-west to anti-west. Congrats west, your plan to antagonize world’s biggest country is on sucessful path.
Immediately upon receiving the sanction, those companies created 19 shell companies to conceal their Russian ties. Welcome to the world of Indian business practices.

Actions like this makes BRICS an inevitability for countries that are sanctioned and cut out dependence on the US entirely as well as any influence from the US.

What is this?.. The western world is cutting himself more and more off, from the rest of civilization. I mean we are speaking about a economical power of 900 million people on western side versus 3.400 million people on the eastern side. This gets even worse if you consider these states are main production power world wide and we still try hard to not only cut us off from their economy but also try to drag the actively into the conflict as participants. How is this even ethical?! Indian people and their state is just neutral in that conflict and don’t side with anyone! What are we doing?!
