Details: Zelenskyy said Ukraine had an «agreement» with NATO which provides for the creation of an air patrol mission in Poland, modelled on a similar agreement with the Baltic States. «We have reached an agreement with NATO that they would send a police mission [to Poland], just like our friends in the Baltics who do not have their own aircraft, but have a similar mission. We have reached an agreement, but has Poland transferred the aircraft to us? No. Did they find another reason [not to do it]? Yes,» Zelenskyy said. He also said Ukraine was engaged in talks with Poland regarding shooting down Russian missiles headed towards Poland. «We have always asked them to shoot down missiles headed towards Poland. We have a gas storage facility there, the city of Stryi… We don’t have enough [air defence] systems to protect the gas storage facility. What do the Poles do? Do they shoot the missiles down? No. The Poles have said that they are prepared to shoot them down if they’re not alone in this decision, if they get NATO’s support,» Zelenskyy explained.
C’mon motherfuckers (world)! Are we gonna sit by while this country suffers a fucking genocide?! Let’s go already! For fucks sake…
Why would the Poles compromise their own security? Poland already handed Ukraine most of tanks and MIGs. You can’t milk the cow dry.
Lately Zelensky provides a very anti-polish narrative and people in Poland see it. We have been helping Ukraine since day 1, of course we are not the most wealthy country, but send them lots of stuff, and Zelensky behaves like a spoiled kid, who got mad because our politicians asked to make bad polish-ukrainian history clear, and settled once and for all. He will now treat us like Poland is non existent in any matter and say words like that, even tho any action Poland could take, is dependent on NATO decisions not solely ours.
It is just sad to see for me…
Americans are providing weapons and assistance to a Izrael commenting on war crimes, yet they cannot allow Ukraine to shoot russian territory.
Germans with their rethoric about “non escalating” war eith Russia
And yet somehow none of that is being thrown in their face…
Ahh politics
North Koreans fighting on European soil, Ulrainians losing ground in the east, low on supply. The International community responce? “Thoughts and prayers”
What do you mean none of that is “thrown in their face”? He’s been very vocal about these examples as well, many times.
It’s all fucked up, in more than one way 🙁
First, Zelensky is in a bit of an impossible position. He is mostly just doing his job and you can’t fault him for that. Sure, he could do better than antagonizing their possible biggest local ally, but at this point he really doesn’t have many options left. He is already doing well above-and-beyond, by staying in the role three years down – he would be fully in position to say that, sorry, there’s only so much responsibility a human can handle, and GTFO to be an ambassador somewhere safe. Huge respect to the guy, even if I don’t agree with everything he says.
Poland… remember: their interest is first and foremost… ***Poland’s*** interest. Which is largely *similar* with Ukraine’s – that’s why in the first days of war Poland sent hundreds of tanks and pretty much everything they could. (Remember, that was back when the rest of the West was still mumbling *”but… muh…. escalashuuun.. but, they have nukes!!”* – even for sending the tanks). Also, AFAIR, Poland still remains the biggest supporter per capita/GDP. Also without Polish logistical support in Radom airport, the war would be over in a month.
BTW, you can’t fault Poland that, after all that, it expects a bit more than the rhetoric currently coming from Ukraine leadership, especially in areas that don’t cost more than a few statements from politicians.
All this being said, Polish interest is not *identical* with Ukrainian interest. And in this case, it does not include being on the forefront of military response and accountable for, e.g., shooting down russian missiles over Ukraine. Because, should the war escalate further and Poland gets attacked, their “allies” will back off behind German border and will be sending “thoughts and prayers”, just as they now do to Ukraine.
Now, active military response to russia of course **is** in Poland’s interest – as long as it is a joint NATO action, and, specifically, including US troops on the ground. Which, if we had balls, would be actually the best solution to this war, because force is the only language that russia understands. Ask Turkey, who shot their Su-24 for merely crossing the airspace for just a few seconds. I somehow don’t recall seeing nukes over Ankara after that – if anything, I remember putler cuddling with Erdogan.
… which, however, is not in **NATO’s** interest because, hey, they’d much prefer Poland to do the dirty job, so they can always wash their hands with *”huh, that wasn’t us, deal with it, here’s few extra tanks, bye”*.
And if all that wasn’t enough, across the West, you have all the russian apologists and “peace supporters”, going full 1938.
It’s all fucked up, unfortunately.
Must be somebody taking their sweet time to polish the planes.
The worst thing is that the soldiers on each side don’t have a choice. They must fight until the people holding power decide to stop. That’s why my head can understand the indecisiveness of Western leaders. And it would be enough to say: “As soon as a North Korean soldier steps on Ukrainian land, there will be no more restrictions for Ukraine to use Western weapons! One more hospital hit, and we close the Ukrainian sky!” And I could be much more tough…. Because dictators understand only powerful responses.
What about Gripen that both Sweden wanted to send and Ukraine wants? The logistics is already set up for it and the pilot training finished.
Its simple – White House cant approve it since March 2022 to avoid dangerous escalation!
