  1. Last month, russia endured a staggering record of 41,980 personnel losses, surpassing the previous peak of 38,940 in May 2024.

In just the past week, an unprecedented 10,670 casualties were reported—a record that has been climbing consistently in recent days.

The grim milestone of 700,000 total losses is expected to be surpassed within the next 2-3 days.

As if that weren’t enough, another unimaginable threshold has been crossed: for the first time since the war’s outset, russia has set a new record in losses of armored personnel carriers (APCs). A total of 923 APCs were rendered unusable in October, eclipsing the 905 lost in March 2022.

Adding to the devastation, October 2024 saw the destruction of 2,417 vehicles and fuel tanks, shattering the previous high of 2,103 in July 2024.

*Special equipment includes electronic warfare systems and radars,
as well as engineering equipment like mine-clearing vehicles and bridge-layers.
It also covers support and maintenance vehicles needed to keep other assets,
such as tanks and armored vehicles, functioning.

  2. Prorussians say the ukranians have lost 1 million soldiers but when confronted by what losses rhet actually think the RU had they have no clue

  3. Feels like Russia is going all in these last month. And even with this massive push on all fronts they’ve only managed to have any kind of “real success” in the Donbas.

This is also only expediting their looming equipment troubles (all of their soviet stockpiles are set to start running out in 2025 to 2026, depending on the equipment and maybe faster now with the uptick in losses).

But it would certainly be nice if Ukraine’s allies would start to actually deliver equipment and not only promise it…
Having to defend yourself every day against this massive pushes is incredibly hard by itself, you don’t need to add a lack of equipment and ammo to that.

  4. I’ve really missed these graphs. I haven’t seen them for months. I greatly admire turning figures into works of art. Who generates these graphs?
Edit: Found the dude. u/AuroraStarM Thank you.

  5. For perspective, 20 years of successful invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan produced maybe 7000 KIA and 52,000 WIA for the US military.

(Succesful militarily, but outcomes were failed/dubious.)

And these regions combined are both larger and more populous.

And while the tech-level afforded to the Ukrainians is significantly higher, who looks at comparable losses in a month to those 20 years and thinks things are going well?? Especially when you’re bogged down into attrition??

  6. The intensity of this conflict is now “only” one order of magnitude below the eastern front in WW2 if total loses are to go by.
