  1. this tip culture is annoying but I just blanket don’t tip. Unless someone does something that is above the job they are paid to do, why do they deserve a tip?

    it’s just dumb American greed

  2. The anger from the comments in that article is borderline insane.

National Express is an absolute cheat code for travel and a blessing in the midst of outrageous prices for trains and taxis, I can get a £14 return to London where a train ticket will cost upwards of £70+

Drivers have always been lovely, not one of them is going to give a bumpy ride for not tipping, it’s just an incentive and I’m sure the impact is minimal. People leave the change with cabbie drivers all the time.

  3. Never tip. Say no and they will pack it in, say yes and start tipping and it will get worse like a disease.

  4. Just reading the website URL I reckon that the whole ‘customers SLAM’ blah blah blah is going to be an outrage piece designed to drive clicks based off a handful of angry tweets. am I close?

  5. It’s so weird to me that the ‘compulsory’ tipping thing is making its way over here.

A few months back I ordered a chippy on JustEat and it gave me the option to tip the driver at the same time as making the order. I thought about it because I do tip delivery drivers sometimes depending on the service, but in this case the driver was over an hour late and took the food back to the chippy because he couldn’t find the house, he didn’t bother trying to ring us for directions or anything. Long story short I’m glad I didn’t tip on JustEat because they didn’t deserve it.

  6. Fun fact majority of NX is Franchised. Take a look towards the passenger side rear panels front of the rear axles next time in victoria. The bus companies addresses legally have to be on the bus.

  7. We need to stop this yank shite from bleeding into our culture.

The responsibility is on the business to pay their staff properly. If they can’t afford to cut down on dividends and director bonuses to pay for staff then they can’t afford to exist as a company.

The responsibility is on the employer to pay the staff not the customer.

  8. This isn’t a new thing. I remember everyone tipping the coach driver on a school trip to Alton Towers back in the 80s.
