  1. It was probably from after the last Sullom Voe shutdown! This’ll be up on *The Rig Workers Rant*

  2. Very late hornocene period from my estimation but will need dating

  3. A big part of archeology is finding tools and dating them by their construction and use.

These are clearly from the ‘Rubber Age’. Cup and Ring marks usually indicate Pictish origin, but this hoard only contains ‘cocks’ and rings so it’s quite possibly from the ‘Middle Ages’ (usually between 40 and 60, when the kids leave home), though you’d usually expect to find a ball gag too.

  4. These ancient artifacts need to be placed in the Shetland Museum immediately

  5. That yellow one must take some practice before you have a crack at it…

  6. That could get a bit nasty: there’s only about 120 people in Ollaberry…

  7. At last, hard evidence that the Mesolithic beaker people of Shetland were trading and engaging in cultural exchange with the lost dildo diaspora of Doggerland.

    Eye watering stuff, truly.

  8. This is massive, could be close to unearthing the next BoneHenge!

  9. How can taps just fall off and go down the plug hole

  10. I’ve a friend who works for an industrial archaeology company who has had to verify the identity of numerous ‘artifacts’ over the years.

So if you want to slow down a local building site on an area where there might be archaeological significance, chuck a muddy glass butt plug over the wall.

  11. A manhole is exactly where i would expect to find those toys.
