American military and intelligence officials have concluded that the war in Ukraine is no longer a stalemate as Russia makes steady gains, and the sense of pessimism in Kyiv and Washington is deepening.-THE NEW YORK TIMES

  1. Here’s the US’s time to demonstrate whether they are serious about Ukraine winning or not.

  2. because we keep putting limits on Ukraine, give them what they want and let them loose this shit would be over by now, I don’t care if F-16s are used in Kursk, isn’t that what they were designed for, killing Russians.?? Let them work

  3. I’ll just say this information conflicts with the mood of the room that I’m in right now, and this is a pretty well-informed room.

  4. Absolutely disgusted with the collective western leadership.

All Ukraine wanted was to join the Liberal Democratic world, and all we had to do was give them the means to achieve it.

    Disgraceful.

  5. I read it and I’m still optimistic for Ukraine. This war will be considered to be Vladimir Putin’s colossal mistake.

  6. Vote. First we win the election. Then we give Ukraine what they need to defeat Russia. We will not standby while the dictators of this world try to consume people living free. Vote people. Vote blue and get someone else to vote as well. We need this so bad.

  7. Another big mistake from the US. A country with limited history claiming to be the democracy advocate for the world with a dictator in waiting selling out a country that is invoking what ww2 was all about for previous generations. Now is the time to prevent the new world order. Russia and the East have a plan and we are sleepwalking into a loss of the rules based order that has kept so many of us comfortable and able to live life to enjoy such forums as this social media. We are due a wake-up but Ukraine is and could be the perfect buffer zone.

  8. Well if the west wanted we could have this war over. The cost for Russia for these relatively small gains are mind blowing.

  9. The US will send troops if we have to. We will always support Ukraine. So is the rest of the world. Several countries will be sending troops soon to Ukraine. Russia is tired their soldiers don’t want to fight anymore.

  10. And all this time Russian, NK, and Iranian militaries get more combat hardened. If they win in Ukraine, they’ll be much more likely to attack other areas. In my opinion, anyway.

  11. It’s a NYT article. Of course they will take the biased position that is what trump would say.

  12. NYT is pretty much right wing propaganda these days. I don’t trust them as a reliable source.

  13. The new york times have journalist reporting about this war with not a lot of military experience.

  14. It would seem the blunt answer is that Ukraine needs to be allowed to put allied forces on the ground, as russia has done. Forcing Ukraine to defend against russian, Syrian, North Korean, Iranian, Chechen and Cinese forces with only Ukrainians and volunteers seems to be unfair.

Let Poland, S. Korea, and other allies of Ukraine put boots on the ground. That would significantly alter the tide. N. Korea’s entry already made it a world war, when coupled with Russian and Iranian activity inside and outside of Ukraine.

  15. After 2 years of providing feeble support and tying Ukraine’s hands with restrictions on how they can use those little weapons they got there is a big surprise they are on the verge of defeat. Modern politicians are probably the worst in entire human history.

  16. Nyt has been playing both sides of the election for months.

Their objective is clicks an maintaining anxiety.

As to Ukraine, much of your fortunes ride on whether trump is elected… and ours too.

  17. Used to track it close. There were small like a few mile gains by Russians over months. I also see video on reddit of Russian men and equipment blowing up daily. For every foot they gain has to cost Russia millions. Plus their young men. What a sad and old barbaric way to take control. Why this is even permitted blows my mind. And that is why the USA spends trillions on defense.

  18. Russia is a European problem, they’ll never be a legitimate threat to the American homeland, we’re surrounded by oceans and friendly countries. Plan and give and strategize as such and stop relying on your big brother across the ocean because it seems we might lose interest. We’re just lucky the US has contributed a ton to UA. I wish they’d contribute more and facilitate a UA victory ASAP, but not sure that will happen. But again, Russia is Europe’s problem and most Americans know that (even if we support UA).

  19. Gee I wonder if striking key supply lines and strategic targets in Russia with long range western weapons might help..

Erm, I mean we’re here to support your fight for freedom, but that sounds dangerously close to a winning strategy, and we don’t wanna piss off the Russians too much
