Hey Guys, turns out it was a scam. I managed to find the actual soldier and his wife through Instagram, then telegram. After a lengthy talk, we determined that they had taken photos from his social media because it was public domain. And, that they had some how gotten into some of his other personal information. Thankfully, the soldiers still alive and doing well as well as his wife. Long story short, I only lost 100 which isn't too bad, but I definitely think there should be better ways to prevent scams: Especially with donations

Just don’t donate to strangers on things like this. It’s common to use things like this to scam empathetic strangers
The best way to prevent getting scammed is to not send money to strangers
