Albania inaugurates the 40-million-euro Kukës Bridge over the Drin River. The bridge spans a total length of 310 meters, with a metal arch that has a 270-meter base and reaches a height of 56 meters.

Albania inaugurates the 40-million-euro Kukës Bridge over the Drin River. The bridge spans a total length of 310 meters, with a metal arch that has a 270-meter base and reaches a height of 56 meters.
The Bridge is part of the A1 (Nation’s road) that connects Kosovo and Albania.
On the other side the Opposition has accused the government that the bridge costed much more than it should.
The bridge was also completed months ago but wasn’t opened till yesterday(the old bridge could not handle the traffic and increases the waiting time especially during peak months in summer). The reason of not opening in summer was not fully explained but it seems to do with a wrong planning and some citizens/business were cut of easy access to the road so arrangements had to be done (not sure about this part).
Did you know that when Allah created the world, he gave it all to Albania, but Albania, being a nice country, gave land to other countries?

They forgot to paint the arch.
It only took about 20 years
I was convinced that the €40 million had to be a typo and that it was actually €400 million or more.
But it’s genuinely €40 million. That’s an incredible bargain. The UK would spend more than that just on the planning permission application and environmental impact study.
We may be building a tunnel under a river. So far we’ve spent £800 million/€953 million and we havent started work on it yet. With £295 million spent on the planning application and environmental impact alone. The rest is on buying land, designing the tunnel….. With us talking about building the tunnel since 2009.
TIL Albania uses same motorway signs style and colors as Italy, the only difference is that in Italy when the name of the bridge is too long they reduce the font
