The reality of visiting Rome

  1. This is what they rarely show on tourist promotion pictures: the amount of people there. I gave up visiting popular tourist attractions because of this.

  2. Looks great to me. Sure it’d be nice to have the whole place to yourself but that amount of tourists doesn’t bother me at all.

  3. If you’re not elbowing your way thru the ridiculous crowds, then you’re either saying no to street vendors aggresively hawking their wares or fighting off would-be pickpocketers. I’ll never voluntarily vacation to Rome, Paris or London.

  4. Rome is great! Here is how: visit the popular outdoor places ONLY VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING OR LATE AT NIGHT. Like 5:30 – 6:00 00:00 – 01:00. Book all your tickets in advance. Avoid the overly popular places. There are great restaurants in Trastevere or other areas that are a bit less central, these aren’t even expensive. There are great museums that are pretty much empty. Skip the famous tourist attractions and go with the „second best“.

  5. Last year this time I was in Milan wanted to take cute pictures next to Duomo. Impossible. But also than I just said that it is my fault changed my attitude and took some picture anyway it came out good and if wanted some more cinematic ones I would take them in less touristy areas those came out good as well. Just say screw it and just enjoy the city is my advice)))))

  6. Unless you are a local, why complain? You’re part of the crowding issue. And those images seem pretty manageable, especially considering the fair weather.

  7. You missed the part where someone gets pickpocketed infront of you on a busy metro train.

  8. Visited Fontana di Trevi at 8:00 and there were 8 people counting myself. 12/10 experience

  9. Best time to visit these cities is ….. oh wait, we don’t want to encourage over tourism.

  10. Do you believe these places were empty of people when they were used in antiquity? I do not see the problem and I do not know what expectations you were contrasting with this reality.
