«Свидание с Америкой» effectively translates to “date with America”
Is that the building they shot at with tanks during a coupe?
Ummm, that’s Asia
Some parts of Moscow don’t look much better than this now
It’s even more surreal, considering that the caption on the billboard says “An encounter with America” and it is probably a tobacco advertisement that looks like a homemade poster. It seems like smoking Western brands of cigarettes was perceived as prestigious in post-Soviet Russia.
We had similar peculiarities in Poland in the 90s until the advertising market got regulated and tobacco was banned from most types of advertising, but also smoking went out of fashion.
