A friend of mine had to cancel our trip together to Germany/Austria/Switzerland due to family emergencies. Overall a little bummed but I’m comfortable traveling alone and the silver lining is that I get to do what I want, so I am deciding to stop by Liechtenstein on the 12/30, the day before my flight out of Zurich in 12/31.
I did some research and it appears that most tourist attractions (Liechtenstein Center, Museums) are open that day. However I was hoping to get the below information:
* Of all the museums/galleries, is there one that is particularly recommended? I plan to definitely go to the Postal Museum given that it is free (?) and I enjoy the concept
* Would the walk/hike up to the city viewpoint close to the castle be doable at that time of the year?
* Is there anywhere I can grab a beer? Preferably one unique to Liechtenstein? I found the [Liechtensteiner Brauhaus](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g190367-d6277067-Reviews-Liechtensteiner_Brauhaus-Schaan.html) but I’ll be visiting on a Saturday and it seems like it closes around 1PM?
* Do the busses towards Sargans ever get full? Should I be getting a ticket ahead of time?
* Anywhere that might sell any sort of Liechtenstein related sporting gear (local football club kit etc…)?
Also looking forward to general recommendations on other things to do/eat! Also absolutely open to getting a beer/drink/snack if anybody might be keen on that day. A beer on me.

Hi, to be honest, I dont think I would visit Vaduz in this area.
In my opinion the border cities in Austria like Feldkirch or Bregenz (some distance more) are much nicer and especially more affordable. I guess you know Liechtenstein/Switzerland are much more expensive then Austria for example.
The city of Vaduz is decent, but very small.
To be honest I am not to familiar with sightseeing in Vaduz, but I can tell you that the „Schattenburg“ in Feldkirch is worth a visit, its a castle with a nice museum. Also the „Werdenberger See“ is a nice like in Buchs, not too far away from Vaduz, but not so easy to reach by public transportation.
Hiking up the castle should be no problem, even in winter.
You can get the tickets for busses previously, but there is no seat reservation anyway in the normal public transportation system, so thats not necessary and busses are not full at this time of the year…
The Stadion of FC Vaduz is not too far from the center (its a small city), but I dont think they have a Fanshop, aside from their games.
Postal museum is free and if you’re interested in stamps, it’s a bit interesting. If you’re here for a full day you might think about getting the tourist pass, all museums in Vaduz are included and so is the public transport until sargans, buchs or feldkirch. Also the tourist train thing is included, one time usage of the ski lift in malbun up to the restaurant and other things as well. I think even a small tasting at the princely winery
The museums are small but depending on your interests usually quite interesting:
Treasure chamber. Extensive collection that belomgs to the Prince. Crown jewels, moon rocks, paintings of the river Rhine along its shore, easter eggs, most expensive fabergé egg ever produced.
National museum: flora and fauna of liechtenstein, roman stuff found here, changing exhibitions
Museum of fine art: changing art exhibitions
Hilti Museum: belongs to the family hilti (yes, the power drills), has Picassos etc. on display. Same entrance as the fine art museum.
Between the treasure chamber is the tourist shop. You can get your passport stamped, get local beers from brauhaus, schnaps, whisky, rum, gin, wine (we do like our alcohol) and can get stuff like shirts from sports teams, not sure if from FCVaduz but at least the dress of the olypmic team should be on sale. There’s other shops in Vaduz that should sell more sports stuff.
As wlth everything: it’s more interesting with the story behind it, like why the old part of town is where it is, etc. Maybe get the liechtenstein trail app, it should be able to tell you at least a little bit about what you see.
