Israel’s claim of conflict on seven fronts sends political message, expert says • FRANCE 24

To Geneva and bring in Alexandra V Travis He is a security expert and editor of the in Chief of the Swiss military review well let’s start Alexandre on these official comments to say you know we we’ve known about skirmishes in the past with different countries but now saying officially

There’s a war on several different fronts let me ask you first what you make of those comments there’s definitely two uh different layers of interpretation there’s a political layer of interpretation here we want to say that definitely there is solidarity there is objective common interest between a certain number of parties a certain

Number of countries and this feeds very well into the Israeli traditional rhetoric of not only a two-front war but essentially everybody is against us and then you can look at it from a military operational point of view uh there are missiles and drones and activities coming from all fronts and Israel

Probably does not have enough enough air defenses and uh defenses in general uh to uh be placed against the north to protect against uh Lebanese incursions against the South to address the Gaza situation um somewhere else in order to address drones and missiles fired from Yemen and so on and so forth really

Interesting um analysts picking up already in the last half an hour since these comments that Iranian State media that to talk about well they claim that an air strike carried out by Israel in Damascus in Syria had killed one of its senior commanders Sayed razi mavi Israel um potentially within those comments

Analysts suggesting there was a tacit admission that actually Israel did carry out that air strike what do you make of that can’t really comment on that but once again if you look at it from an operational and Military point of view U the uh Israeli Air Force capabilities

Have been um essentially uh taking on the the the brunt of the fighting of the military operations in the first few weeks of the war in Gaza and uh now that land forces uh have gone in essentially there is quite a bit of aerial potential that is available for other types of

Missions and definitely uh these incursions and these targeted um uh interdiction missions are something that the Israeli Air Force is definitely capable of now we were talking about the intensity of the air strikes overnight more than 100 according to the IDF on different parts of uh Gaza including not

Just the refugee camps in the center in the north jabalia but also Han Yunis and in one of the supposed evacuation safe zones around Rafer in the South as well do you are you in terms of following the the military patn you know the drum beat

Of it by the day for the last 11 weeks or so are you getting a sense of you know what Israel talks about potentially seeing a third stage of its operations we call the third phase or you still think this is an allout targeting where

Do you see this going at the moment it’s not really an allout targeting but definitely there is an effort uh made on the behalf of the Israeli operational and Military commanders uh to keep the pressure up uh whatever is is happening on the ground even uh when there is a

Slower pace of land operations uh taking place or when forces need to be moved to other areas so definitely there’s a bit of that on the other hand definitely we are seeing um more uh advance and I would say um if we compare uh the results of the Israeli forces on the

Ground with some of the uh expert predictions we are seeing that the Israelis have moved very swiftly and they have moved much uh more quickly than anticipated and they are definitely uh now moving or shifting away from an emphasis in Gaza towards the south of the Gaza Strip now with the Prime

Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that the war will continue until Hamas is destroyed are you also managing to get any sense of analysis of the ability of Hamas in its responses we’re seeing some rocket attacks towards Tel Aviv that have been uh protected by the the imdone

System but what what sense do you get of their its ability to continue fighting uh if we look at the long game of this military operation um I have been saying this consistently there’s three military and political options uh these three military and political options have uh

Have not changed uh regardless of the success or the pace of operations taking place now in Gaza and uh definitely we are still going to be confronted with a uh substantial very important significant political decision what to do with the Gaza Strip in the future

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant Tuesday told a Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting at the Knesset that Israel is facing a “multi-arena war” from seven different fronts including Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran. Gallant said Israel has “responded and acted already on six of these fronts” without elaborating further. There are two different layers of meaning to Gallant’s comments, Suisse Revue Militaire Editor-in-chief Alexandre Vautravers told FRANCE 24. While the defence minister’s comments may reflect the IDF’s operations on different fronts, they may also be interpreted as a political message feeding into Israel’s war rhetoric, Vautravers said.

  1. Putin prepared for the showdown with NATO since he got hold of power in 1999. Israel has been preparing for the inevitable since 1948. Putin is not losing in Ukraine and i think Israel will not be losing in this conflict. The outcome of the war is not decided by mainstream narratives but by the dedication of a nation.

“I mean we saw how World War One broke open, you know, it was a relatively minor conflict that happened in Austria-Hungary,” says Liberal Party Defence & National Security Policy Chair Lincoln Parker.

“Now we’re seeing a number of conflicts around the world break open and this certainly could get much larger and we are now surrounded,” he told Sky News host Erin Molan.

  3. Most of these fronts are not worth a mention or only exist in Bibis imagination, it`s not like real multi-front wars we have seen in military history. He probably just looked to deep into the jewish bible once again.

  4. The world has been begging Israel for a ceasefire for over 2 months now . The hypocrites will start crying for our tax dollars everytime anyone responds to their bombs . And our politicians and media being owned by AIPAC won’t stop rushing in to do their dirty deeds .

  5. Over the course of their investigation, ICC judges will probably conclude there is sufficient evidence of Israeli PM Netanjahu's role in the Al-Shifa Hospital war crime to order his arrest.
