  3. This was bound to happen when our Gov tried to save money by deregulating the building industry – ended UK apprenticeship schemes, demonised father and son trades and allowed developers to outsource Fire inspection, Building control and Health & Safety. Developers then hired graduates fresh out of Uni to supervise new builds as 'Site Managers' and let QS's choose low cost contractors who then had to hire inexperienced workers who knew little about UK Building Safety standards and used materials based on the lowest price. The industry boards then allowed Home Insurers to set their own building standards who then gave their inspectors too many sites to manage. Basically, this is what happens when white collar workers undervalue blue collar workers…and don't get me stated on our planning regs and developers lawyers. I would also like to give a shout out to the men and woman who still take pride in their job and work very hard in dangerous conditions to provide a safe and quality product our clients.
