Sunak accused of ‘desperate’ inheritance tax briefing as date of spring budget confirmed

Post Christmas sales this year were down slightly on last year and as new year approaches Tory MPS are hoping Jeremy Hunt will put more money in Shopper Pockets with tax cuts in a pre-election budget which he’s announced will be on March the 6th after an Autumn statement in which

He cut National Insurance but overall tax levels Rose Mr Hunt gave a pre- Christmas pledge that he hopes to cut taxes in the budget when we can we want to bring down the tax burden so that people keep more of the money that they earn every month one option is scrapping

Inheritance tax in a pre-election giveaway but some Tory MPS want other measures too I think all tax cuts are good and I know inheritance tax is one that most people dislike when they hear of it but I do believe it would be better personally if we could see um

Further reductions with the National Insurance or some reductions in the income tax cutting inheritance tax would create a clear dividing line with labor but the opposition says it’s more about keeping Tor MPS happy we’ve had 25 tax rises in this Parliament alone I think people are feeling the squeeze people are feeling

The cost living crisis and our NHS is on its knees so what the prime minister is briefing about at the moment has far more to do with internal conservative politics than it does with what is right for the country other possible budget measures include help for firsttime buyers such

As government support for longer fixed term mortgages to reduce the amount needed for a deposit hello hello how are you a budget just 10 weeks away in early March suggests that the chancellor and his next door neighbor Rishi sunak are keeping open the option of an early

Election in May or they just want labor to believe they’re keeping open the option G whenever the election comes the Tores hope a budget giveaway will boost their Chances

Rishi Sunak has been accused of a “desperate” briefing on inheritance tax (IHT) after reports suggested it would be slashed ahead of the next election.

It comes as the government confirmed the date of the next spring budget, which will be delivered on 6 March.

With a general election looming next year, Mr Sunak will be under pressure from Tory MPs to announce tax cuts to boost their chances of victory.

  1. Yes that will make a big difference to those struggling to feed/house/heat etc…… nice one Rishi, and entirely expected… .whenever the poor struggle, give the rich another tax break!

  2. Rasheeed Sanook (as President Jo Biden likes to call him) really has a wonderful way of driving people that are struggling face's in to the ground. Why not just have a campaign poster "Vote Conservative WE HATE POOR PEOPLE"'

  3. Any govt needs to recognise that reducing income tax for those still working past retirement age would help..
A 66 year old in full time work & earning a pension would enter the 40% tax threshold which is very unfair, so reducing there tax liability to the minimum would help considerably..

  4. An attempt to win the older voter. However, tory incompetence has caused such economic decline, it's unlikely to work. Compare the tory performance with Blair, who makes the tories immediately shout shout 'War criminal' because Blair saw the longest period of sustained economic growth for 200years and also reduced borrowing. Brown had to deal with the worldwide sub-prime mortgage crisis – thankfully HE was in office because homelessness would have instantly quadrupled under the tories.

  5. Short sighted to use this to criticise the Tory’s as I’m seeing in the comments.

Labour and Conservatives both have a large amount of spending creating a considerable deficit driving the need for taxes.

I suggest looking up “Adam Smith Day”. We already pay more than half our annual salary in tax, Vat, NI etc.

Taking more from people via Inheritance tax is not even factored into that.

Neither Conservatives nor Labour will deliver this.

The Uk needs to focus on building industry and not relying on financial services and short term favourable deal that lead to longer term problems.

The global economy has improved dramatically in recent decades, yet the middle class in the UK has gotten considerably poorer (as measured by financial spending power).

  6. just the conservatives trying to claw back the votes but what happens if they are left in power, the next budget they will just change back to normal, big taxes for us and low taxes for their mates.

  7. there should be zero inheritance tax, a person works their entire life paying more than half they earn as tax and greedy governments want to tax the dead. absolutely wrong and should be fought against hard. because various governments of every persuasion waste our money they need to steal more and more. stop tax greed now.

  8. The rich get richer and the ordinary WORKERS are ignored. Stop topping up benefits and increase the tax threshold so the "working people" are rewarded. It must pay to work !! Military pensions should be tax free which would help with recruitment.

  9. An excellent guide to the tory desperate situation . All tory voters will be awarded a foil wrapped chocolate medal at the exit polls . Not for nothing does our esteemed prime minister have a brown nose !!! 😂
