I think this is a very early hint of what a chaotic year politically and legally the United States uh is in for it will be absolute chaos in the courts up and down the land uh as Donald Trump looks set to be the Republican Party candidate for president but with so many

Challenges legally against him this decision uh by the Secretary of State in Maine who is the top election official in that state follows a similar decision made by Court uh in Colorado just before Christmas um to ban Donald Trump from their ballot as well that said I don’t

Think we should read too much into what is happening here yet for two reasons first of all both Colorado and Maine are outliers other courts across the in States across the land who have been asked to make to look at Donald Trump’s eligibility uh for uh candidate for the

Election have come to a different decision they have all upheld his right to stand a as a presidential candidate so these two states are out on their own that’s not to say others might not follow but they have not done done so yet that’s the first thing to bear in

Mind the other is that in Colorado and almost certainly now in Maine the Supreme Court uh here in Washington DC the Supreme Court of the land uh will take up the cas cases will look at them and may well overturn them in Maine too there is the chance for an appeals court

There to overturn it as well so the legal process has got some way um to go uh but you know she is the the secretary of state of Maine is the highest election official there this is a significant decision um no doubt but as I say it could well be overturned as you

Expect as you would expect Donald Trump’s team have released statement it is highly political in its nature it says that the main secretary of state is a virulent leftist and a hyper partisan Biden supporting Democrat who has decided to interfere in the presidential election on behalf of as they put him

Unable to vote for their candidate if these two decisions in Colorado and in Maine are upheld a big if then suddenly Donald Trump supporters in those states and there are many will find that their candidate is not there they’re not able to vote for him and in such a a febrile

Maine’s top election official has disqualified Donald Trump from the state ballot in next year’s US presidential primary election – making it the second state to bar the former president over the Capitol riots.

Maine secretary of state Shenna Bellows ruled that Mr Trump incited an insurrection when he spread false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 election and then urged his supporters to march on the Capitol on 6 January 2021.

The ruling, which can be appealed to a state court, applies only to the March primary election, but it could affect Mr Trump’s status for the November general election.

  5. 14th A doesnt specifically say they have to be convicted, just says that they participated in an insurrection. This really has to go to the US Supreme Court for a definitive definition and ruling. Which is what the Colorado and Maine rulings are forcing to happen.

  6. Unbelievable. Never thought I would see this happen in the US. So it's a one-party country. Still don't know why – if they won by 81 million votes – they are still trying to stop him. More worried about maintaining power. They should be confident enough to take him on in an election. In my country there will be riots everywhere.

  20. How do they get away with false accusations as a basis for their decision to take a person off the ballot ?
    That's not upholding the US Constitution. Neither is the illicit complaint to knowingly sully a person with no convictions.
    That's not a US Supreme Court matter

  23. Meh, all US Elections are two parties: One is the democrat party and the other the false opposition party. Only the total collapse of the USA will bring about change for the better… and freedom.
    The whole government/ system and most of the voters here are rotten to the core. Totally irredeemable. Just stop participating in the system and watch it collapse.

  25. I had a dream about the USA about 5 days ago, there are 4 parts to it.

    1st part, there are brands well regarded and sort after that lose popularity very quickly concluding after what happens at this election.

    2nd part, all the cars drive down single lane roads and once the election result go's through they all travel in the opposite direction at a faster speed like they are racing.

    3rd part, there are talented people imprisoned that are innocent trying to escape only to be let out once the election results come through, those prisoners are now free and start to clean and help others.

    4th part, the election is announced on TV, everyone is watching, the once leader is now no more, there are people saying I'm so glad I voted for him what was happening was horrible. Smiles on people that seemed dangerous, even the ones on the streets.

  29. Lets not forget Sky News was founded by Rupert Murdoch. I'm taken what this guy is saying with a pinch of salt and so should everyone else. There will be more states knocking Trump off as he is a criminal.
