Mia was a 14-year-old pupil at the Jewish Free School in Kenton, north-west London, who killed herself in March 2021. An inquest revealed she was subjected to a vicious campaign of bullying by male pupils at school and online, where she was targeted in a boys-only Snapchat group. Mia’s father, Mariano Janin, told reporters it was a relief the extent of her bullying had been recognised three years on. He then went on to call for accountability and said he felt justice had not yet been served.

  1. Has the underlying cause been established? It can't be a dislike of fashion and music, there must be more. A family name of Janin could have links to Jenin in Palestine.

  2. Condolences to the family. With the benefit of hindsight, I sincerely hope that lessons will be learned this time and anti bullying suicide prevention processes will be reviewed thoroughly and vigorously to ensure that this doesn't occur again on UK soil. Prayers, vigils, resolve and meaningful dialogue, not the usual lip service given by opportunistic career politicians or useless councillors

  3. We had to deal with a bullied child some time ago. Didn't get any help so I went after moms of these out-of-control kids [2]. For me it worked but wouldn't advise doing things that way.
