Attacks on UK shop workers rise to 1,300 incidents a day. #Shorts #Retail #BBCNews

If you work in retail are you getting more abuse from customers well attacks against retail staff hit 1,300 incidents a day last year with incidents like racial abuse sexual harassment physical assault and threats with weapons up by 50% that’s according to the British retail Consortium which also found that

Shops lost 1.8 billion pounds in the latest year because of shoplifting the highest on record big shops like Aldi boots and sabes have all previously called for better protection for their staff and some bosses want violence against shot workers to be made into a standalone offense in England and Wales

Like it already is in Scotland the BRC said taken by the government to address the crisis was woefully inadequate the home office has been contacted for a comment so what’s the worst experience you’ve had working in a shop

  1. People see those at the top facing no consequences for their behaviour.

People like Michelle Mone ripping us off for many millions still living the millionaire lifestyle living on a yacht, why shouldn't they steal a £5 frozen chicken ?

Billionaires avoiding Inheritance Tax into the billions.

Our country is rotting from the head downwards.

Role Models are Role Models, for good or for bad.

  2. This is happening everywhere, the USA has had shops put EVERYTHING behind locked panels that staff has to open. (Some stores even just walled all of the products off, and the staff basically has to shop for you. Many shops just gave up and closed locations that saw too many thefts.)

  3. Shoplifting became out of control after judges allowed shoplifters to sue the stores that attempted to apprehend the shoplifter. It used to not be this way. A few decades ago, if you shoplifted, you could expect to be caught and escorted to a holding room in the store awaiting the police. Who would haul the shoplifter away in handcuffs to jail and chatged with theft.

The courts created the shoplifting problem by preventing stores from taking action against the shoplifter. The courts would be the solution if they returned to the sanity of the 50s 60s 70s and 80s when it comes to allowing shopkeepers to apprehend and hold the shoplifter. And when it came to prosecution of not the victim but rather the criminal. The courts need to return to sanity.

  4. Fair to say retail workers actually get police come out, if ya being burgled they give you a crime number while the perp is in your house and tell you they will send an officer the week after, alot of retail workers cause arguments so they can claim compensation after causing it.

  5. The powerfull treat people like shit, people's money is worth nothing, only the rich get what they want. Thats the consequence, more thefts… and in come the capitalists trying to make stricter laws in order to contain the popular outrage originated by the capitalists (donald trump is a capitalist btw) policies in the first place

  6. Yes it is the same in most industries that deal with the public! Try teaching high school kids and it is a regular occurrence, that we ultimately have no choice but to put up with! After all they are just kids…kids that tower above me, are intimidating and often backed up by management and ofsted rulings of safeguarding! This world is in the pits! Folk do just whatever they want and do good, woke, idealists make excuses for aggressive, intimidating and down right abusive behaviour!
It’s about time this country starts to deal with this continuing and increasing lawlessness and STOP making excuses!
    Rant over!

  7. I used to work in retail, but I'm now unable to work (not related) I got attacked by 5 drunk teenagers after catching them causing a nuisance around the store. nothing was done, no police were called but they did get barred from the shop. another time, I and another colleague caught a shoplifter, after escorting him to the security room he threatened to injure us with a used needle and tried to bite me. something needs doing, I'm glad I don't work anymore.
