High winds engulf homes in tumbleweeds in western US

The western part of the United States has seen blizzards and high winds over the last few days with video showing tumbleweeds swarming across roads and overtaking homes and vehicles. Extreme weather has hit Utah, California and Nevada, causing widespread disruptions.

  1. Why is the Guardian focusing on small stories from the US all of a sudden?? lol…a bit of high winds…couple of loose horses on the freeway?? Really?? Must be an American on the news team…lol

  2. It's so funny being a European and thinking that a lot of the stuff you see in American movies about the old west and the dustbowl etc is exaggerated and then you see something like this IRL that would look over the top if you put it in a movie

  3. Looks like a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock film…..instead of The Birds, it would be The Tumbleweeds. OR this could also be a short story by Stephen King.."The day the Tumbleweeds took over"!
