  2. The snapping shrimp, also known as the pistol shrimp, is capable of producing a sound that can reach up to 200 decibels (dB) underwater, which is significantly louder than 140 dB. This sound is produced by the snapping motion of its specialized claw and is one of the loudest sounds produced by marine animals.
