Sweden has abandoned two centuries of military non-alignment as it recently became the newest member of NATO. The country’s military has been boosting its preparedness since Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea by reintroducing limited conscription in 2017 and reopening a garrison on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland in 2018. Sweden has also massively increased defence spending after slashing it during the post-Cold War period. FRANCE 24’s Clovis Casali reports.

    You can't even fill half of a 3rd division English football stadium with the entire Swedish military.

    Meanwhile Russia killed over 160 000 Ukranian soldiers in just 2 months last summer.

    The last time Sweden went to war with Russia Sweden got such a beating they quit war for over 200 years.

    Russia too on Finland, the Baltic States and parts of Poland from them.
