How do I keep herons away from my pond? I have fishes, frogs and salamanders, and I don't want the heron to eat them. I don't want to put up a net because there are other birds that drink water and I don't want them to get stuck in the net.
I know plastic figures won't work because I've seen videos of herons coming in even though there is a plastic heron.
I'm thinking of putting something for the fish to hide in, but I'd rather keep the heron away.

  1. Herons needa lot of space to land and to take off – So make it difficult for them to do that.

  2. Shrubs all around that are very wide and open. Then they cannot get there. Think of the wingspan.

  3. I have no more advise to give but wanted to add that I love your pond and the whole garden! It’s beautiful.

  4. In my area they sell lifelike plastic heron figures that are a bit bigger than real ones. Apparrently they are solitary, and when they see a bigger and stronger one they stay away from it. Dont know if it actually works though.
