MP Craig Mackinlay returns to parliament after his hands and feet were amputated

oh as you know we don’t allow a clapping but this is an exception right and first of all the thanks to you Mr Speaker for being there for me for coming to visit and I will tell everybody the little story they thought the rest of the hospital thought I must have be dreadfully ill cuz they said that guy’s got the funeral director in already the other person in this chamber I’d like to thank is the prime minister who’s been with me throughout he hasn’t advertised it he’s been to see me multiple times and to me that shows the true depth of the character of the Prime Minister and thank you for that and in the public Gallery they can’t quite see me unfortunately are many of the staff from the NHS who took me from where I was close to death can we please ensure that we embed recognition of early signs of sepsis it wouldn’t have worked for me mine was too quick and too sudden but for many people they do get a few days if we can stop somebody ending up like this this I would say that’s a job well done but also Mr Speaker to impress upon your health ministers to allow the provision of appropriate pathetics particularly for multi- Utes at the right time and on the substantive question that he raises before I do that can I also join him in paying tribute to the NHS workers who looked after him he’s right that sepsis is a devastating condition and we’re working hard to raise awareness of it and I know that he will play a leading role in doing that and without getting into all the details I’ll just say that he is right the NHS itself has recognized this morning that more needs to be done

The Conservative MP for South Thanet was given a standing ovation in the House of Commons as he returned to parliament after recovering from sepsis, which led to a quadruple amputation

  1. As an American I know what this day means to you we Americans know all about it 2 of our own Reps Gabby Giffords (former) and Steve Scalise (current member) we both shot and injured in the course of being a member of congress and when they came back to work it was really emotional.

  2. Praising Rishi….really ? a guy who is complicit in genocide and war crimes……, ….who has a wife who permanently resides in the UK who is registered has a Non Dom (permanent residence outside the UK)

..that's the true depth and character of the guy

    .

  3. Look, if Sunak would have visited him it would have been all over the news, they DON'T miss opportunities like that. Sunak clearly NEVER went to see this man!

  4. They're trying to pluck your sympathy, remember if Sunak did go visit him, it's us Sunak is being cruel too, not his fellow colleagues, don't fall for it!!!

  5. From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call the temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal… Even in death I serve the Omnissiah.

  6. Did anyone notice how starmer didn't join in with the clapping for Craig MacKinlay when everyone else gave the man a standing ovation. Did the guy next to starmer tell him to clap?
