Fmr US general urges WH to ‘double down’ on this troubling issue

General Joseph Vella joins us on the phone the retired former US sencom Commander general what do you make of this move and the fact that not only the United States but France Germany could be others since I last saw this um are are allowing this yeah thanks Neil it’s great to be with you well I think it’s I think it’s an indication of just how how serious the NATO allies and I think now the United States take uh this threat from from Russia as it continues its Relentless attacks on on on Ukraine and of course they’ve May made good use of the last couple years to uh to address a lot of the problems they had up front and are now very much on the offensive so now is the time I think to double down on on providing Ukraine the support it needs to Prevail um Can it Prevail General there are a lot of people who wonder that Russia has indeed turned the tide and this isn’t going to make any difference well you know uh momentum changes in in combat and in conflict and uh and you know you may have a one for one period of time but you can lose it very very quickly I think it’s I think it’s important for Ukraine to Prevail they need to be on the offensive and to be on the offensive uh United States and the West has to provide the capabilities that it needs to do that so you know whether they can do it or not I think is uh I think we we’ll wait to see but if we know for sure they can’t if we don’t provide them all the tools and capabilities that uh that they require you know General you and I talked about this before maybe because I’m so money Centric maybe too much so um I always think of how Vladimir Putin has recouped all of this stuff that he lost since the start of the war he’s richer than he’s ever been oil revenues coming in like they never have before so he seems to be back in the cat bird seat well yeah I think that’s that’s very clear they have made very good use of the time uh that they’ve had here to ramp up their production capabilities they’re now producing more artillery rounds not more than the United States and the rest of the western uh countries provided as an example so they have very deep industrial capacity that they are bringing to Bear they have more manpower than Ukraine does and they’re calling on that um so yes they’ve made good use of this and uh they’ve uh taken undertaken efforts to correct a lot of the very serious mistakes they made uh in the opening uh opening months of of this war you know we’ve heard a lot of you know Confusion And even tension within the Ukrainian military leadership and and and riffs with the you know president zalinski how bad is that getting obviously the longer this drags on that kind of stuff isn’t surprising as you reminded me General but but it is a little disconcerting what do you make of it well I I don’t really have good firstand knowledge into into all of that but but certainly there’s a lot of pressure on on the Ukrainian government certainly that extends down onto the Ukrainian military and as they as they try to address a resurge in Russ here that is putting extraordinary pressure on them uh and their citizens continue to deal with strikes across the country and they see challenges with Manpower this is going to lead to a lot of stress and a lot of uh tension in the system and this will require uh the very best leadership uh qualities of the president and of the Ukrainian military to work through this so yeah there’s no doubt that’s uh that’s part of it but I think that’s kind of to be expected uh for a campaign this now well into its almost its third year got it General thank you much more sir for your service to this country

  11. Is this a professional CENTCOM Commander or a complete idiot? How does he think the United States and NATO attacking the Russian Federation over a non NATO country being Ukraine is a safe logical choice????? Russia will consider this an aggressive attack from Western countries. This could escalate into a global thermonuclear war very quickly. Russia has the world’s largest nuclear arsenal as well. Who exactly is the winner in all this To add Ukraine is a corrupt non NATO member that does not require American intervention!!!!! This is absolute madness! God help us if all our smartphones tone out an emergency alert for incoming nuclear missiles!☢️

  17. Russia put the so-called American politicians warmongers in a difficult position. They always treat Russia on national TV like a weak country to make Americans believe that these corrupt politicians are doing a good job. The reality is for two years the US has thrown almost everything it has in its conventional arsenals at the Russians, but the Russians stand firm. The Russians have the gift to learn every single American wonder weapon and come up with counter measures. The system that protects America (the patriot system) has been sent to Ukraine in big numbers most of them have been destroyed by Russia hypersonic missiles kinzhal, the same for NASAM. What makes these politicians believe that they can strike Russia and Russia in their imaginary can't strike America back?

  21. Senate voted to give Ukraine military help – lend-lease, similar to WW2, then Biden signed it on May 9, 2022, but in fact he never sent the required help. It was just a dripping help, so Ukraine would stay hardly alive and continue the fight.

  25. Russia is going to win this war . Why isn't the United States pushing for peace ,like they are doing in Israel and in Palestine ? The U.S. is very hypocritical , I pray to God that President Donald John Trump wins the Presidential election in November, so he can put an end to this senseless war and get us out of all these foreign intanglements
