There’s been a lot of speculation on Valentin Carboni and what’s the best solution for him moving forward. Personally, I see him as a player with great potential. However, I don’t think he is what we need at the moment. When I think about it, having Taremi-Carboni as our striker backups doesn’t feel like much of an upgrade from Arnautovic-Sanchez. I believe we need a 4th striker who is more ready and can make his presence felt right away. Best case scenario for me is to sell Carboni to a mid-table team like Monza while including a buy-back clause. Then going for Gudmundsson as top target. Taremi and Gudmundsson as striker options off the bench feels like the real upgrade we need, especially considering we are competing in more competitions with more matches next season. In the next few seasons, we can keep monitoring Carboni and then we can use the buy-back clause if needed and if the timing is right.

  1. You are correct. He doesn’t fit well in our system and he needs to play a lot to improve further. Either loan or sell with buy back.

  2. I love how “he doesn’t fit our style” but Gudmundsson who’s a CAM/ss/mezzala is perfect for it. Çalha and Mkhi didn’t fit our style as well, based on how they played in past clubs.

I’m not opposed to sell him with a buyback clause, I’m just tired of this “can’t fit” crap. Players learn new positions all the time, specially at young age.
