  2. Of course the Spanish have heard how Americans pronounce any Spanish word too, and consequently choose to live in Spain.

  3. I think it’s fair to say that someone’s Spanish pronunciation isn’t going to be perfect if they’ve never learned Spanish. However, “niche” is a french word adopted into the English lexicon quite a while ago now, probably long enough to get the pronunciation right.

    As far as I’m aware the English do well with the Spanish words we have nicked. I’ve never heard an anyone struggle with the word “mosquito” for example.
