  9. Russian elites thought they could win quickly and get back to robbing Ukraine like in the days of Yanukovych. Russia was never under any threat from attack. The old men in the Duma don’t seem to understand how demographics work and think they can kill off their males like in the Stalin days and by miracle thousands of men will still be available.

The guy looks nothing like a fit, military-aged material, more like the type you see daydrunk milling around trainstations begging for money, yet there is plenty of videos of well equipped and supplied units that sit well behind this type of ragtag unit. They seem to be deliberately "burning" off lower classes of the population in this war on the contact line + minorities which is something out of ancient history.

  20. It's not enough for the West to see the video of the abandoned Russian soldier: Russians must see this as well. Someone, somewhere will recognise this man and see what is happening to their own people. Only the Russians can stop Putin, but until they realise that he is the enemy – not Ukraine – will anything happen.

  33. How about the Russian soldier gets to see the POWs that were recently returned to Ukraine from Russia. Maybe if Russians manage to give a shit about the criminal treatment of POWs, the war crimes that have been committed, Bucha, targetting civilians, And They did Something About It, then I might check if I have any empathy left. At the moment, I have not a single one to give for this guy.
