Orbán’s party takes most votes in Hungary’s EU election, but new challenger scores big win
the story of the European elections in Hungary is got two major takeaways the record high turnout 50% participation of Hungarian voters that’s 13 percentage points higher than in 2019 but also the arrival on the scene crucially of a new serious Challenger to the Prime Minister Victor Orban now make Mo no mistake Victor orban’s fides party has emerged victorious in these European elections in his celebration speech his message was clear to the European Union no more migration no more war and no more Brussels clearly hammering home his uh regular campaign themes but any satisfaction for Victor Orban is clearly tainted too by the falling vote share and the dro in the number of MEPS his party will be sending to Brussels just as crucial then is that not far behind really almost snapping at his heels is uh in second place and far ahead of the other opposition groups is the newcomer Peter Maga and his Tissa party now he’s an interesting character Peter magia he’s formerly of fides himself and he burst onto the scene uh only a couple of months ago and he’s campaigned very hard on an anti-corruption ticket he’s struck a cord clearly with voters as he’s toured tirelessly around the country in recent weeks now the dominance though of those two main parties really does condemn all of the other opposition groupings uh the uh socialists the centrists the greens the far right to fighting over the scraps given of course that Victor Orban and Peter magar sh share many political views and values it means that the political landscape here in Hungary and the MEPS that the country will be sending to Brussels as a distinctly right-wing and conservative tone in 2024
“The story of the European elections in Hungary has two major takeaways,” said FRANCE 24’s correspondent in Budapest, Luke Brown. “The record-high turnout – 50% of Hungarian voters – that’s 13 percentage points higher than in 2019, but also the arrival on the scene of a new serious challenger to the Prime Minister Vikor Orban,” he added.

God bless Mr.Orbán and Hungary
Melonie, Orban, Le Pen, Weidel, Wilders… bring hopes to Europe's future. 🥰
Peter Magyar the wife beater! 🤬
Bravo Mr. Orbán!
So his main rival is someone who was in his party? And you're celebrating this? 😂
Legend
Once again the people at France 24 engage in "cope". Barring major scandal,Orban and Fidez will stay in power.
Putin loves Orban.
Let's see. Orban has been a pain to the US assigned European bureaucrats. Expect more creative news about his challenger.
1130963 more new voters appered on this election, than on the previous election. 924119 new voters voted for the opposition parties. A new party – Tisza- has emerged from nothing to 30% for 1,5 month. The citizens do not want to live under Orban's authoritaran regime, rural folks support Orban, mainly
The USA threatened Orban they would ruin him and his country and for sure they are trying
Corruption is ruined Hungary. And the opposite side was only "theatre".
So Orban got the most votes but his opponent won. Thank you France 24, very cool!
Orbán's new challenger emerged from Fidesz😅
Imagine campaigning that "if you don't vote for me, there will be ww3", that's Orbán's strategy basically.
Looks like Hungary will remain conservative. Fidesz's rival shares several of their right wing policies and views.
Title should be this: New challenger scores big win, hungarian old school corrupt left-wing parties destroyed.
Great news! Europe needs a level headed leader to keep the globalists from running wild.
