at this Air Base in the south of France Ukrainian soldiers are training to become fighter pilots this Ukrainian Soldier is just 21 years old and has been here for 3 months he’s about to fly with a French instructor in this Alpha jet identical to those in France’s Fleet before takeoff the pilot inspects the plane with his mechanic these are safety checks we need to do before taking off they’re compulsory in France the 10 Ukrainian pilots in training have been advised to remain anonymous their training will last for 6 months instead of the usual 18 months as ke needs new pilots as quickly as possible they’re very willing already mentally prepared they’re young all between 21 and 23 years old but they’re already Warriors at heart they’ve already seen fighting in their own country they’re here for one thing only to be able to return home and protect the International Community and their the program is tailored to the war in Ukraine focusing on the essentials flights in a group shooting and missile interception the objective is to allow them to learn all the essentials of fighter piloting low altitude navigation in a tactical framework aerial combat and air to ground attacks we want them to acquire these skills because in 6 months they will control a weapon system and be sent to a military operation the pilots train on a simulator to shoot on site the most difficult and risky combat maneuver seated in a cockpit for an hour this Ukrainian pilot flies virtually over the French Countryside an exercise to help develop reflexes that will be crucial on the battlefield the Ukrainian Pilots will be trained on the French Jets until August and then spend another four months at a different European military base learning on American F-16 fighter jets the aircraft have long been awaited by keev Ukraine’s forces are due to receive the in several weeks

At a secret location in southwestern France, a young Ukrainian pilot kept a tight grip on the controls of an Alpha Jet trainer aircraft. The pilot – who was not allowed to speak to journalists – is a part of a 10-strong group of Ukrainians who have been undergoing accelerated six-month training in France using simulators and the twin-engined aircraft. Aged 21 to 23, the Ukrainians are undergoing the same training as French pilots but in half the time – learning how to navigate, target and shoot.

  11. Wishing all the pilots good luck, though it's worth noting that Russian pilots are quite familiar with their aircraft and have a lot more advanced jets and probably have more dogfighting experience. But hey, good luck to all!

  43. The west promised Ukraine western jets for the past year, and still nothing. Zero jets delivered and the pipeline for pilots is what… 10 maybe 20 pilots? Too little too late. Same BS with tanks, yeah Ukraine got tanks but again too little too late.
