Hidalgo won’t fucking believe this
Was the water quality better back then?
back when it wasn’t considered an health hazard
when it was actually possible to be swimming in the Seine
I wonder how these people in the picture would react to today’s Paris waters.
Good old times when black waters were directly discharged in the river and there was not even regulation nor periodic examination. And nobody knew if you got your weekly dissentry from food poisoning, drinking water or the occasional seinne bath
fyi, the Seine at this spot was full of shit at the time.
now they are shitting in it, how times change
Believe it or not, but most, if not all, of the people in the picture are now dead. You still think the Seine was safe back then? I think not. /s
Funfact: Pont d’Iena ist named after my hometown Jena in Germany; there Napoleon (First French Empire) defeated Prussia in the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt in 1806. You can still visit the site of the Battle. Today it’s used for sledging and flying kites. 🙂

How much pink eye did these guys pick up
Was the tower painted that rusty colour back then, or it appears different due the photo being colorised later?
Is the guy at the front missing legs???
Dirty water was invented in 1946. People in 1945 —–>
I was so tempted to do this when I went.lol
Why are there no black people in the picture?
