I’ve conciously held back from using y’all on this subreddit so I don’t get these kinds of allegations thrown my way. I just watch a lot of american youtubers and adapted my english accordingly, thats all.
Who is it though name and shame them!
Over 200k on the sub and about 25 Irish? I think if we really looked we would realize that there’s thousands of so-called imposters here probably.
I was born in Italy but grew up in America
*starts sweating*
Y’all are goddam jerks
If you want to spot a real Italian from a fake one just ask him what the relation between the word “German” and the number “15” is in Italy.
If they don’t know they are 100% not from Italy.
Actually I think it’s kinda hart for a non native English speaker not to get an American accent, since pretty much all content available in English is American English
Honestly, I hate that our teachers forced us to learn Barry English
What do you mean I have to call chips “crisps” and fries “chips”
Here’s the curve ball: **soccer**
Since when do we care which word or spelling Barry and his former colonies use or don’t use. That’s a them problem. All of us second language English speakers are nice enough to accommodate them in their language, ne c‘est pas?
What the hell am I supposed to call it, if eraser is wrong? Also the English language is just a giant mash of European languages anyways, so it’s stupid to act like the language needs to be preserved.
I agree all the rest are American, but what’s wrong with couch?
rubbish, rubber, settee/chair, biccy. end of.
What do they say instead of cookie??
I do that too (the yanks forced me to learn their barbaric version of english, I’m sorry fellow europeans)
Cuando tu vecino grita “Carajo!” y no “Joder tío por las barbas de mi abuela hay que salir picando leches así jugamos al Final Fantasy en lo de mi primo Manolo”

We say couch in Ireland
The most hostile to me on this sub have generally been the Irish, don’t know why – haven’t ever thrown em in a Paddy Wagon or anything like that.
My English is a disgusting mix of Fatmerican and British English.
as a brit i still say cookie, but thats for a specific type of biscuit really, not every biscuit is a type of cookie but every cookie is a type of biscuit
Ask them how they take their chicken roll or their favourite stout. Solid test right there
Trash is rubbish
Eraser is rubber
Couch is still couch
Cookie is a specific type of biscuit.
Now I wonder, is it a browser cookie or a browser biscuit?
I haven’t watched this movie(s?) but I get the reference. I read too many summaries of movies and stuff
Americans never LARP as English and that’s just one of the MANY ways we stay winning 💪
Wtf else are they gonna call a cookie?
Cookie ??
Do I need to say Chocolate Chip Biscuit and Ben&Jerry Biscuit Dough now then ?
Smhmh gatekeeping language 💀
