  1. It’s one thing that the SNP are facing mounting public anger over 17 years of accumulated failures in government and a decade of party financial scandals, with only a few weak and discredited post-Sturgeon leaders to fend them off.

    It’s another that they might no longer be able to finance a proper election campaign against the resources Scottish Labour and the Scottish Tories can bring in from their parent parties in London. Donations, large and small, seem to have all but stopped after the Peter Murrell arrest, and now they’ve lost most of their short money with their Westminster MPs.
