⭐️ EDIT ⭐️ we have received a call from a lovely member of the public who saw a Black BMW with damage to the passenger side speeding down the Castletown Road having come off at junction 17.
Not the end to our holiday we had hoped for. I’m putting this on here in the hope it can be shared.
We were travelling home today to Northern Ireland after a great week in River Valley Holiday Park in Redcross. Sadly, we were hit by a reckless driver on the M1 between junction 16 and 17 northbound around 2.30pm and the caravan has been destroyed and John’s car potentially written off. The car did not stop and fled the scene. A lorry behind us did stop but only got a partial registration. Without the full registration, the Garda have said that it is unlikely they will be found. The registration they got started with 161-LH. Given the damage to the caravan there would be significant damage to the car.
We are so devastated – we only got the caravan in April and believe that the car might also be written off. If by any chance anyone had dashcam footage or saw the accident happen we would appreciate any information.
Just to add, we are all thankfully okay and appreciate the kind lorry driver and other people who stopped to see we were okay. No injuries, just very shaken up.
