Official data: Barca’s salary mass is now lower than Real Madrid’s.

For the people worried about 1:1 situation and signings, this news may be comforting, it shows that we are doing insanely well financially. We are talking about official information and very precise numbers.

Eduard Romeu was the economic vicepresident of Barca until March 2024, just a few months ago. If someone knows how the club is doing financially it is him.

He writes for SPORT now. Recently he published an article claiming the following.

• Barca's first team salary mass is now LOWER THAN Real Madrid's. In particular he mentions the top 5 teams in Europe by salary mass. He explicitly claimed this data is "totally verified".
• 1. PSG with 574m
  • 2. Man. City. with 497m
  • 3. Real Madrid with 459m (note this is pre-Mbappe data, it should be more now)
  • 4. Chelsea with 420m
  • 5. Barca with 399m
  • 6. Bayern with 394m.
• Barca's salary mass is now at "a historical" 60% of the income, whereas in our healthiest moments this century it was around 65%. And in our worst moments it was at 97% in the 20-21 season. So we are healthier than ever now when it comes to salary mass : income ratio.
• This represents a 180m reduction in salary mass in the past few years.
• Finally, he makes a call to keep the salary mass this healthy, to not start spending tons of money so that we don't repeat the mistakes of the past.
