  1. >The occupiers are forcing Ukrainian residents to obtain Russian passports and re-register property under Russian laws.

Duh. According to Russia, those regions are part of Russia and the people who are living there are new Russians. Why would they not assign them Russian passports? And why would they not register and protect the property rights of their new citizens under Russian law?

Not doing this would be making those people second class citizens within Russia.

The people who lost their homes are the ones who abandoned it and went to Ukraine. Even there the article mentions that Russia gives them the option of going back to their hometown and reclaim their property, if they are willing to live there and change their nationality.

The lady this journalist talks to about losing property literally has a son serving in the Ukranian army and she wishes Ukraine destroys her old building, with no care for her old neighbours some of who stayed back. The article goes the extra length to terms people who stayed back as “collaborators”. We know what happened to people who were called collaborators the last time around.

  2. Is the author of this piece, a CEPA fellow, seriously just now discovering what conquest is and what it entails?
