Hungary decides to allow easier entry for Russian nationals, which has sparked significant concern among European countries. This policy change is seen as a direct threat to European security, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

  1. EU MEPs’ reactions:

    1. **Stripping Hungary of its EU Voting Rights**: A group of 63 MEPs has called for Hungary to be stripped of its EU voting rights. [They argue that Hungary’s actions, including Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visits to Russia and China, undermine the EU’s collective security and diplomatic efforts](https://telex.hu/english/2024/07/16/63-meps-call-for-stripping-hungary-of-its-eu-voting-rights)
    2. **Legal Action Over EU Funds**: MEPs have threatened legal action regarding the release of EU funds to Hungary. They are concerned that the European Commission’s decision to unblock billions of euros for Hungary, despite ongoing issues of corruption and abuse of power, could weaken the EU’s financial integrity
    3. **Reintroduction of Border Checks**: There are calls for the reintroduction of border checks between Hungary and other Schengen Area countries. This measure aims to address security concerns and ensure that Hungary’s actions do not compromise the safety of other EU nations
    4. **Expulsion from the Schengen Area:** Some MEPs have even suggested that Hungary should be expelled from the Schengen Area if it continues to diverge from EU policies and security standards

  2. EU resembles a pretty sandcastle built on ideals and dreams. European treaties, including Schengen, did not foresee idiots that consciously damage the union. It’s time for a thorough reality check and the introduction of immunization against such threats.

  3. And I did’nt Think that Orban could fuck up more than he allready have done. And so He did🤨
Time to react EU and NATO. Stop the money(and Oil) flow now!

  4. Close all borders with Hungary dont allow flights to/from Hungary to go over other EU air space. Strip them of voting rights etc etc BYE BYE!!!!

  5. I’m really curious what the average Hungarian feels about what’s going on with their sniveling shit of a leader? Do you feel like he’s looking after the best interests of your country by siding with Ruzzia?

  6. Close borders, and take away their voting rights if not kick them out entirely

  7. He is a f***ing mad man

Bye Bye (the enermy within) Hungary. Come back when you grow up

  8. Hungary under an effective dictator should not be part of Europe and its a shame that Europe took no action following his usurp on power. What did they expect other than a drain on resources and an ally of Russia able to weaken European unity? Free elections is a requirement of European elections and membership of the EU….

  9. It’s time to accept that Orban( not Hungarians) has embraced the russian war hug. And EU to deal with proper measures

  10. OK. There are EU provisions and safety mechanisms for when an EU member state is acting against EU security… More crickets?

  11. Imagine being a EU member and simultaneously easing entry for nationals of a country that commits acts of sabotage all over EU.

  12. I think the reason Hungary allows this is because of its dependency of energy from Russia , Ukraine shut the pipeline through Ukraine from Russia last month

  13. Think Europe really needs to consider it’s border choices, it’s great to have free travel and being able to go everywhere, but it’s also clearly a weakness that Russia is constantly taking advantage of, and it’s trivial to get people into Europe.

  14. Sounds to me these actions should have been implemented already when orban came into power and started acting like he does…

No oil for hungary anymore! Heck even better cut off everything!! Let the population know they need to change and get rid of dictator orban!!

  15. You know it might well be time for the EU to drop Hungary, seems like they dont contribute much but disruption and drama
