As an italian i’m always impressed by how good Australia athletes perform at olympics.
I know that population is not everything (see India) but the last time that my country whose population is more than twice than Australia, got more medal than them was in 1984.
Kudos to you guys.

I think we got beaten by New Zealand in the medal count once so since then we spend all of the money making sure it doesn’t bloody well happen again
It’s a very rich country with high targeted sporting spend and a good sporting culture. People tend to forget the importance of economics in Olympics sports.
