I saw an article about him where he said he realized he absolutely sucked (comparatively) on the other events so he just focused on pommel horse and that’s all he does now.
Let the man have his moment!
Dude just had unquestionably the best day of his life. Somehow I doubt you’re going to ruin it for him.
I can’t wait for the anime about the Japanese team that won the gold because you know they’re going to do all the anime tropes about this guy. They’ll make fun of him for looking like a nerd but then he takes off his shirt he’s so buff. Then they do the whole little glass adjustment as he’s measuring the pommel horse handles. Then when he does his routine you see the Japanese team freakout with the whole team yelling at the same time “NANI!!??”
I beg you to cross post this to the r/gymnastics
I think he’d laugh at this
Yes, that’s precisely how fans of him and his team should celebrate him. Excellent idea there, OP!
He’s the Mikey Musumeci of gymnastics.
Definitely a Clark Kent to Superman situation.
So awesome. So happy for these guys. What great teammates
this fellow won two NCAA championships (2017 and 2018) and the gold medal in the 2021 world championship for his speciality event, the pommel horse.
dude is a champion.
His line on how if everyone before him hits it, he hits it has a different spin now
Jokes aside, Stephen is a monster and came through when the team needed it the most. There’s no better feeling than delivering that performance for your team and yourself.
They have every right to celebrate what very few will ever do and I’m extremely happy for them.
I mean anecdotally people who win bronze are happier than those who win silver. The Chinese looked miserable up there.
