Finally someone talking about Overshoot. But I think it started to take effect closer to the 60’s. Been reading articles by William Rees and watched videos on this and woooow. It is very revealing!
Bad so much of the earths resources is spent on stupid garbage no one needs
Once you start talking about overshoot instead of climate change specifically, the narrative changes. It stops being about the usual suspects that are usually blamed — billionaires, oil companies, corporations in general — and about the resources necessary to support 8+ billion people.
And even that’s not really the case, because it’s actually about the resources necessary to support the type of lifestyle that perhaps 1 billion live compared to the other 7 billion. The kind of resource intensive, high consumption lifestyle that’s considered “normal” in the wealthy countries, but is ridiculously extravagant compared to the way most people in the world live.
